A good deal of folks seem to really honestly believe this was a consequence of the dems losing the election. They won in 2020 and had four years to mount a defense against the obvious fascism of Trump. They didn't. They barely even changed any of his policies.
And anyways, fascism has never been defeated by a ballot box. It's an aberrant force that requires a direct response. If he lost, he would have just grabbed power another way.
