Yes, but NOSTR will not remain free if it gets promoted or mainstreamed. There is no feasible way for it to do so, all activity will have to be localized to one central relay (or at best, a central cluster of them) and anything outside that will be possible, but small to the point of irrelevance.

This is also the best case scenario for BSky, which already has the technical capacity to take in large sums of people, and is inherently more secure by design (NOSTR security is a disaster) so it makes more sense to back BSky right off the bat.

There are trade offs between decentralized networks, but NOSTR isn't a decentralized network, despite it's developers claiming it is. It's actually decentralized protocol that lets many centralized clients connect to many centralized social networks (called relays, which makes them sound more decentralized than they actually are.)

If a decentralized Internet is in the future, it's not going to be NOSTR. No amount of Jack Dorsey money can fix a fundamentally unscalable model.
