An orchard arborist who was trimming the neighbor’s tree several years ago told me he uses chopped up leaves for mulch instead of the bagged barks the garden centers sell. Because the fallen leaves enrich the soil whereas the bark mulch takes energy from the soil. I’ve been using the leaves!
