Mnuchin stated that he believes the legislation should pass and that TikTok should be sold to U.S. businesses. He also mentioned that Trump had previously signed an order requiring ByteDance to divest from TikTok's U.S. operations, but the order was overturned in court. Despite Trump's opposition, the House bill easily passed with a vote of 352-65. The bill would require ByteDance to divest from TikTok within 165 days or face a ban on U.S. app stores and web hosting services.
