Dear Corvid Crone at kolektiva social: I recently learned in my computer course that: 1. Turn Off Computer and Turn On Again is called Cold Boot, 2. Restart is called Warm Boot. The reason why there is a difference is because Warm Boot only Restarts Computer Programs and does not erase temporary memory aka volatile memory. Where as completely turning off the computer erases all temporary memory aka volatile memory.

There are times when a Warm Boot is necessary and there are times when a Cold Boot is necessary to remove Computer Viruses from temporary memory aka volatile memory for example.
