As far as I can tell, the premise of this anime, artistically speaking, is "I'm going to write a wish fulfillment light novel, but all of my wishes are really basic and mundane"
Also, I think the original light novel author may have some lesbian feelings they aren't fully facing. Unless the author identifies as male. But that would only raise further questions.
