You support keyboard shift+tap on iPad without going into select mode also, right? I’d expect that this would work.
(Maybe this puts you into select mode automatically? That might be weird and the point is to not have a heavy mode change)
The text editing pane is something that will matter if it’s not great (I haven’t tried the built in one, but not supporting the common macOS shortcuts is mind bogglingly annoying for a lot of cross platform apps on Mac - like OpenSCAD).
