The general sense I get is that security/privacy are moving further down the stack of priorities, typically an afterthought, and in many cases only considered when required by a tangential goal (e.g. compliance / regulation / someones promotion pack)
Even compared to 4-5 years ago, software quality standards are way lower, and compared to a decade ago they are on a completely different and much smaller scale.
