I've been thinking about this since seeing the rants mentioned in

Laptops are one of the worst possible examples. I once used a laptop from 1990. It was a 20 MHz 286 that weighed 20 lbs and cost $5k (2023 dollars). It was obsolete in 2 years. Any laptop from PC Magazine's 1990 state-of-the-art laptop review would've been similar obsolete, although you could've gotten a 386,
