People with difficult family relationships, what are your strategies this year for maintaining your equilibrium or self esteem or the like during the holidays this year?
Some of mine:
- going for walks
- some mastodon time (so I have a place where I don't feel like such a political outlier)
- self compassion meditation
- podcasts on at least some of the time while cooking
Boundaries are good generally, but if your family is like mine there are some people seem immune to boundaries (such as let's not talk politics), and the only choice is take it or leave it.
Last year it was leave it. This year it's take it.
