10 years ago today, I became a mom by choice. After celebrating my son’s birthday, I have some thoughts. The fact that motherhood is wonderful and absolutely worth strain, doesn’t make it any less exhausting or life-altering.
The only people who should have a say in whether or not you have children should be (1) you, and (2, if you choose to go the partnered parenting route,) your partner. No one else. Not the government, not your employer, not even your own parents. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
