On this day in 2020, Bitcoin entered Epoch IV and the block subsidy was halved from 12.5 to 6.25 coins per block. With each halving, the issuance of bitcoins decreases, and the coins become “more valuable” since fewer are produced each day. Like sand through an hourglass, the last grains seem somehow more valuable because the end is near. So it is with the years of lives, as well.
