My answer was relatively simple:
1) Change has a learning curve. Don't give up your Microsoft subscription immediately, but do give LibreOffice a try. Expect to put some time in to adopting new software.
2) Pretend that you don't have the Microsoft subscription, and use LibreOffice as if that is all you had. If you find a problem, find a solution rather than just opening Word etc., but know that what you are used to is still there if you really do desperately need it.
3) You are welcome to ask for help.
