Lots of suicidal people don't want to go out into the pandemic. Many reasons. Already at odds with society and much less fond of it. Much less likely to engage with the groupthink of that society, especially when it's acting under mass delusion as it is now. The clean death has been considered and falling to bits with COVID slowly while pretending to enjoy ourselves isn't a solution.
The suicidal acts of a delusional society are not compatible with the suicidal urge of the depressed.
