What it doesn't say in the blog entry: just as @scalzi says "Starter Villain" was his COVID novel, so too is "A Conventional Boy" mine. I think I stuck the landing because it's half-length for a Laundry novel: making it smaller reduced the complexity enough that I could hold it together in spite of the brain fog.
