If aircraft mechanics sometimes get sloppy just think how that might propagate to things like repair of sensors and actuators on self-driving automobiles where most repair is done by non-certified mechanics using parts that have passed through an uncontrolled supply chain?
By-the-way, I do not remember the resolution to the fake-aircraft-grade bolt problem of the 1980s.
Also-by-the-way, subgrade parts are nothing new - the Brooklyn Bridge has some substandard wires in its main cables - those main cables had to be made thicker to compensate.
