yesterday, one of my cycling activist friends was advocating for helmet laws and saying helmets are equivalent to seatbelts. it's amazing how he drew this assumption of equivalence. bike helmets do not have the data backing them up that seatbelts do.
i pointed out concrete examples of the effects of helmet laws. this was unknown to my colleague. how the fuck have you been in this sphere and not heard the example of australia?
