I always experience people using to expensive, to big dimensioned PSU's for the PC and yes that is a waste of power. A good calculator in my experience is
https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator If you want to be safe with the next GPU because PSU's usually don't die fast, they survive 2-3 GPU generations. Get one tier up (so 550w -> 750w) but don't buy the 1200w unit when you need 550w only. All you do is waste money on people that profit of bad advice.
