Focus on Technique:
Start thinning from the bottom, then pause, step back and look up. Create room for air and light. For hedges, maintain a natural shape and keep the bottom wider than the top.
Be patient and do not use improper techniques such as topping, hat racking, leaving stumps, and taking too much.
Compost your trimmings or cure the wood for cooking or firewood.
Properly dispose of any diseased branches by isolating and burning them in a closed environment, do not compost diseased material. Happy trees!
