Sure, I can use any email client, but email clients are mediocre for chatting.
Also, the delays of messages were unpredictable. Sometimes messages were fast, sometimes very slow.
Because I already had settled on #Jabber, I didn't investigate any further.
Maybe they have a first class Linux client now?
