jacksparrow (npub14xz…khxh) the difference is international recognition and support.
Almost the whole world was united against Russia's attack on Ukraine because Ukraine is a sovereign State with internationally recognized border. If somebody crosses that border with tanks and airplanes, it's quite clear who's the invader. Putin couldn't just get away with calling it a "special military operation".
That doesn't apply to Palestine. An attack on Gaza can be labelled as a "special military operation" against Hamas, and the international law can't do much, other than wish that not too many civilians die in the process. Israel can seize the territory first temporarily (with the excuse of securing it against new terror attacks) and then permanently (by building new settlements and starting new evictions), and nobody can say "you invaded another country", because they made very sure that no country was ever created there in the first place.
Israel is still a happy member of the cool club of democracies because the victim of its colonization plans isn't an internationally recognized country. Give Palestine clearly defined borders, and Biden will have a much harder time supporting Israel while saying that he stands with the oppressed against the bullies.
