nostr is "notes and other stuff transmitted by relays." There's a lot of potential in the "other stuff," but I think ordinary personal notes have a whole lot of untapped potential that we can go after right now.
Everyone senses that nostr is going to open up use cases and designs that are totally outside of the paradigms that we see today. My first instinct is to go looking for these new paradigms in the "other stuff."
However, I think we are going to continue to find very valuable applications of nostr hidden in use cases that already exist and are already well-worn paths.
The most valuable applications of nostr appearing now take an existing use case and do things that were not possible before due to misaligned incentives. For example: damus and other social clients addressing censorship / algorithmic control, spam protection, micropayments.
I want to do the same thing for personal note taking systems. Replace iCloud, Roam Research, Evernote, etc. as the custodians of my data for multi-device syncing and backup. Replace cloud-based integrations (Readwise, Zapier) for capturing information into my notes.
Any other note enthusiasts out there?
