When re-reading my post above I realize I wasn't clear. I know I won't produce all my own food. I want to focus on quail for meat and eggs. The food I was talking about was only for the quail. It seems you have a really good insight into quail nutrient and health requirements. Feel free to answer as much or as little as you want.
Do you know if the below would be close to a complete nutrient food source for quail? Is any of it redundant? How much of each would be needed for one or 10 or 100 quail per day? Feel free to respond in whatever magnitude of quail or time makes sense. No need to do it for each number of quail.
hybrid willow leaves,
amaranth greens,
sun flower greens,
Jerusalem artichoke Greens, dandelion greens,
Squash(pumpkin or spaghetti squash)
Sweet potato greens
amaranth grain(sprouted or dry),
sunflower seeds(sprouted or dry), sun choke tubers(cooked or raw),
worms
I could get fresh water clam shells from local lakes
I could supplement iodine and salt if that is a major concern.
I'm open to including some feed but would prefer to set it up to be self sustaining.
I would probably make bone broth and feed it to them to drink also adding LAB bacteria, from yogurt whey, in the water. I plan to have them by a window and also with a grow light over part of the cage.
Thank you for your time so far.
