I was working in the subway at the time, but 9/11 and 12 were may days off. When I returned to work on the 13th we were only going as far south as 34th Penn Station and even that far up you could smell the burning flesh. Having previously worked at the incinerator in a major NY hospital I was unfortunately familiar with that smell. It wasn't until the following Mon that "normal" service resumed, and you could see the water line on the walls from where all that water gone
