Off the hook? Not by a long shot. But you chose not to participate in this "game", and therefore you should not be held responsible for neither positive nor negative outcome. But why you are bot off the hook then? That's because your life also get affected my the subsequent down-stream of the election. The only difference is that you have voted against the election by not participating in it.
