Suddenly reminded of how irritating it's been to have my water aversion confused with fear.
I don't fear water. I just don't want to be in it, and subsequently, I'm hesitant to participate in activities that increase my risk of being in it.
Same reason I wouldn't go to a Artichoke Festival. It increases my risk of ingesting an artichoke.
