On #ThisDayInHistory in #Beijing, China, the pro-democracy protests in #TiananmenSquare that had begun in April were crushed. On 3 June, China declared martial law and sent in troops and tanks. We don't know the true death toll, but it ranges from a few hundred to a few thousand.
