When I was 15, I made some good friends in a new high school, and we decided to work on an open source video game. We never finished it, but I learned a bunch about coding, open source communications, and a lot more.
This school year, Miriam Snoyman (npub1ytx…qztz) and I transferred our 14 year old daughter to a new high school. She tested into the gifted program, met some new friends... and they recruited her to join their video game project. She learned 3D modeling in Blender, some coding, and how to communicate with a distributed dev team.
She just told me that the newest international competition at school is going to require 3D modeling skills in Blender, and she's excited.
Really wonderful seeing our kids thriving.
