Eric B. Dayton (1946-2024)
Eric Brian Dayton, emeritus professor of philosophy at the University of Saskatchewan, died earlier this month. Professor Dayton worked in argumentation theory, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, and pragmatism—especially the philosophy of C.I. Lewis. You can learn more about his writings here. Dayton was a member of the philosophy department at Saskatchewan for over 40 years. Prior to that he held a one-year position at Rutgers University. He earned his PhD from Western University. For 12 years he was the editor-in-chief of Dialogue: Canadian Philosophical Review, the official journal of the Canadian Philosophical Association. He also was a significant participant in his philosophy department’s community outreach program, Philosophy in the Community, for 17 years.
