I suffer from moderate autumnal depression. Not enough to keep me from working, but I'm really morose around 1 December. It's the shortening days. I live at 59°N.
One of the few luxuries I allowed myself through many years of looking for precarious academic jobs was to never apply for anything north of 64°N.
I have now expanded this policy: never north of 61°N.
