Carrie Shanafelt on Nostr: I keep seeing the specter of "sage on the stage" reappearing in uni admin discourse ...
I keep seeing the specter of "sage on the stage" reappearing in uni admin discourse as the boogeyman that must be destroyed by defunding all the disciplines where it could possibly occur--disciplines that, to my knowledge, have not actually been taught that way in 40 years, with someone saying facts and others (seated, silent) writing them down. Whenever I hear that stereotype invoked, especially at colleges with very small class sizes, I get very suspicious about what is being enacted. /1
