In 2018 had you even heard of or understood Fedwire the backbone fiat clearing house/settlement layer of central banks and their prime brokers?
I'm sure in 2140 no one has a clue what bitcoin is. It's just an infrastructure layer everyone has forgotten about but its still there and carries the full weight of an 800 quadrillion global and interstellar economy.
