REVERSE GOAL-SETTING (#notes from a #self-improvement video)
Notes from: https://youtu.be/R6QQDy1OUhE video. (I took these notes for myself, but providing here for others in case they find it useful. These ideas are not mine but those of the creator of the linked video. This is a text-summary for convenience and easy reference. Please subscribe to the creator because they make lots of useful content like this)
1. Figure out your long term vision or direction 5 to 10 years ahead.
2. Why should this be your goal? What this will help me achieve?
3. Break this goal into term into medium term goals (1-3 years)
4. Specify what is required to achieve these goals. (If when u try to specify you don't know what the requirements are: find out)
5. Define your future self: What kind of person do you need to be to easily accomplish these mid-term goals.
1. Look at the first (or next) mid-term goal and create a meta goal: define the person for whom it will be easy to achieve medium term goal.
2. What are the skills attributes habits and opportunities they need to have to be that person?
6. Define current self: where are you in relation to three abilities?
7. Make a plan to fill the gap between the person you need to be and the person you are currently. The plan needs to consist not of the steps to reach the mid-term goal but of steps to become the person who can reach this mid-term goal easily. (If you don't know what these steps should be, find out)
Do a forcefield analysis:
* looks at self
* looks at goal (future self)
* Barriers and obstacles
* Drivers (help succeed and push through)
* Network and resources to help overcome the obstacles
Build the plan:
* What to start focusing first
* When to start doing it
* How? (if don't know, figure it out and research it)
