On March 1st new laws came into effect to try to tackle the Housing Crisis in South Australia, part of those laws were to ensure rentals were 'Viable' for long-term habitation..
The rental I've been in for the past two years quite comfortably and securely is no longer deemed 'viable' under these new laws so I'm not able to renew my lease at the end of May to stay here, which is actually a failure of the housing crisis laws as it's causing the opposite effect (me being 'evicted' in effect, and unable to renew the lease).
The specific two terms which now deem my rental as non-viable are that it's a Studio room with no "Kitchen" and no "Natural Light" even though I have cooking facilities, a window and a skylight with sunlight shining through....
So now I'm on the hunt for a rental which there are next to none available at reasonable prices currently..
A failure of the system, and a stressful time.
