Programming classes are a joke these days. I'm helping a student who hasn't even been told about git, told to use pyCharm (a crappy GUI ide that can't even push to self hosted git on initial load & costs $250/yr), and hasn't been taught about functions yet.
I miss when they taught it like Lego blocks and have you real projects to put things together. Then actually critiqued your work on how to do better and pitfalls to avoid.
