I enjoyed Puppet but eventually found it hard to keep up with agent compat on every node plus compat with its puppetmaster.
I switched to Ansible and found life easier with no agent except a Python binary, but it's SO SLOW. That is just inherent in its design and they will say, "it isn't built for speed". Having an agent like Puppet and Chef would make things faster, but then once more it's something to manage on every host.
