Thirty years of broken promises and NATO expansion is considered an existential threat by Russia. It’s the international equivalent of the backseat “I’m not touching you” game and then the target finally lashes out and the “not touching” kid cries to mom. I have zero sympathy for NATO in this light. Not firing the first physical attack doesn’t change the constant aggression
Additionally I believe the Biden Administration forced the invasion by responding to generally normal Russian posturing by publicly creating a media perception that if Russia didn’t invade Ukraine, the Biden Administration had forced them to back down. That was never going to fly with Russian leadership. Washington DC loves war and got what they asked for.
