Beastie Boys: Paul’s Boutique. So many samples used to create something new an innovative. It had never been done before. No other artist could ever do the same now… it would be too expensive to obtain the rights.
Portishead: Dummy. This was the vanguard of the trip hop genre, and still sounds fresh today. Same goes for Kruder & Dorfmeister’s The K&D Sessions or DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing. These musicians were creating new styles of music that did not exist before.
