This (from NYT) is rapidly becoming mainstream-media boilerplate. Of course it’s true that Trump would do this. But it shouldn’t be treated as normal.
The president CANNOT pardon himself for his own crimes—the idea is absurd on its face. And to order his attorney general to interfere with his own prosecution would be a corrupt abuse of power.
Please let’s not normalize this horrifying prospect.
