Here's a friendly NZ fantail/piwakawaka/tīrairaka that came up to me yesterday in Ernle Clark Reserve in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ.
This is a black morph. The "Handbook of Australian, New Zealand & Antarctic Birds" states that 12-25% of fantails are black in the South Island, and <1% in the North Island.
