I'd recommend Larken Rose's "The Most Dangerous Superstition" and the "V50 Lectures" as real eye-openers.
There are others, and I'll pass them along as I remember them...
One extremely important one would be the book John the Apostle (follower) wrote about Jesus, especially if you can possibly read it in Greek?
