I met five (5) new people on Tuesday night and I a) paid attention to their names as they introduced themselves and b) remembered them.

Usually names just 'don't go in' and I have to ask a few minutes later and really concentrate, and even then it's very hard to make sure it 'stays there'.

I know my short-term memory has improved immensely this year on medication, but I was so surprised at how automatic and easily this just happened with no conscious effort. I guess I just haven't yet had the opportunity to put the name thing to such a thorough test so the change wasn't so obvious until now.

Of course, it's also possible the fact they were all fellow queers influenced me actually paying more attention than usual.
