Just beyond this fence, there is a 750km gravel road that travels South to North along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains. It’s where I spent many years growing up and is where I take my family to thin the boundaries between ourselves and the land that sustains us.

There are no gates, no fences, no plots of land carved out for cultivation. It is public. It is owned by no one, but used by everyone . It is a shared space that is the responsibility of anyone who uses it. You are responsible for yourself and the marks leave. You give what you get back. Bury your shit, take out your garbage, leave no trace.

We recently spent a few weeks out here and I couldn’t help thinking about how nostr provides me with the same space. A shared space to explore who I am, and what my place is in the world.

Nostr is a lot like the land. They will lift you up, challenge you, keep you humble and give you the space to be yourself. When you’re on the land, and on nostr, you have to move with it, adapt, work hard to be comfortable but the reward for this is immeasurable. The land embraces you, regenerates and refocuses you and this community has the power to do the same.
