I hate to say it, but there’s a lot of money in content gatekeeping because there’s so much stuff out there and it’s too overwhelming for the average person.
At one time, the blogosphere was full of tastemakers but eventually algorithms took over.
The problem with algorithms is that they show you what it thinks you might like instead of what you might unexpectedly like. And this wrecks the joy of discovery.
