Definitely one of the major benefits of XMPP. I have a few links saved criticizing pretty much every encrypted messenger/protocol. It's hard to sift through all the noise sometimes, whats true, whats not, what is a trade-off, that's why I like seeing what others like yourself have to say about it. Here is one against Signal:
