With a merkle tree/hash chain you can do a reverse sync.
You've been deep in the scuttleverse, so of course you're used to the append-only log.
If you reverse the log, and link to the last post you published, and then announce yourself by sending your latest post, your latest name, your latest bio and whathaveyou, then you no longer have to wait to sync an entire append-only log.
