It has been a wild week, spent Tuesday in the ER with my mom who was having shortness of breath (she got a fun ambulance ride). We find out that she's in Afib with a rapid heart rate. Lots of tests, needle sticks, and a reaction to one of the meds later, she's admitted and moved to a room at 10 pm. Up Wednesday, get kid to school, get to hospital and find out that they want to do a cardioversion to zap her back to normal rhythm. Ok, cool, lets do more tests, huh this valve isn't quite right, we'll put a camera down her throat tomorrow to check for blood clots tomorrow and zap her if all good. Today, alone with elderly parents, find out that the heart valve has crapped out and is going to need replacing...ok, cool...freaking out a little, I'm fine, can't lose it while alone with parents, stay calm keep mom's heart rate down...didn't happen. Get self together again, sibs show up we talk about the new things we just found out while they're doing the scope and finding a blood clot in her heart. New treatment plan, blood thinner and meds to regulate her heart rate until she can get her valve replaced. Hug your parents and tell them you love them if they're a part of your life, even routine things can be scary. Sorry for the novel, hugs to you all!
