"Supplicants" is a fortiori imperialist thinking.
My understanding is that as a British permanent resident of the EU, I would be given a vote, were the UK to apply for readmission.
If the current constitutional arrangements & asssociated dysfunction held, I would vote against readmission. Too much bother.
A "medium-sized, prosperous, unremarkable European country" such as an iScot is another matter, of course.
