This afternoon I talked to someone hiring for a UX position. They were frustrated as they got tons of resumes, but the majority were junior visual designers with little actual UX experience.
Their point was that "UX design" appears to have been overrun by by pixel people.
Before the knives come out, I'm a big believer in the need and subtlety of visual design. My point is that it's not the only skill necessary... Many appear to think otherwise.
