I usually pick a Windows laptop, boot Ubuntu from an USB, and if it gives me any hardware trouble, return it. I only had to return two in 15 years.

I find really weird that a Linux-tailored laptop gives you so much pain.

Some of your troubles come from not being willing to adapt to your new system standards. For example, I've never remapped keys; the defaults are fine by me. But I come from Windows, and Linux tends to mimic Windows keyboard conventions.

Not respecting system clipboard or having non standard shortcuts is a terrible thing to do or. Most of the applications with weird UX are due to them being really old and keeping old behaviours because legacy reasons: Vi and Emacs are two examples. Others are due to developers being weird. No need to stand them. Ditch them and find a better alternative. There are dozens of terminal apps. You can even install VS Code and use the integrated one: it is really, really great for development.
